Dont buy a Squier! They are not as good as some other cheap guitars! I started out with a $ 250 Silvertone “Stratocaster” Style guitar and now I have an awesome band, I am awesome at guitar and I have a $ 2000 Fender Deluxe Stratocaster! Yay!
You gotta start somewhere! I suggest going to your local music shop and getting their advice. Buy the best guitar you can afford at the time. You wont regret it!
You cannot buy an OK epiphone for $ 200-300! I suggest asking the people in the shop about their cheap guitars. Then, if you like guitar, save up for a (real) Gibson or Fender.

I suppose a Fender squier stratocaster, and put heaps of stickers etc on it?.
Go to a pawn shop and get one. Any guitar can play punk rock. It’s about the player not the equipment.
Epiphone Gibson or a low end Ibanez.
Cheap is Bad.
Save up some more and buy something decent.
Epiphone SG400
Epiphone Les Paul Jr. (like Green Day- Billy Joe’s guitar)
Fender (Mexican) Tele or Strat
All can be had for 200-300 range. Punk is more about attitude than gear. Enjoy!
